AFL Europe

Aussie Rules Europe was set up as an informal structure to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas regarding Australian football in Europe.
For our game to achieve its true potential in Europe, however, it is submitted that the AFL should give serious consideration to establishing an office – under the banner of AFL Europe – in Europe in 2007.
The key responsibilities of AFL Europe would include:
- Liaise with and provide support to all existing countries in Europe.
- Identify opportunities to introduce the sport into new countries in Europe.
- Promote Australian football to European media.
- Lobby for the broadcast of AFL matches on free-to-air television.
- Coordinate accreditation opportunities for coaches, umpires, administrators and trainers.
- Facilitate the translation of coaching and umpiring resources into various languages.
- Establish an official playing calendar with recognised tournaments and fixtures.
- Secure funding for junior development from the EU, government and business sector.
